On the other hand, there is no page specifically for this beautiful flower. This is now being remedied!

Vast subject though 'roses' may be, I am going to attempt to address it from as many different aspects as possible on just one page!

I can point you in the direction of some brilliant websites which cover many separate rosaceae subjects... I hope one has exactly what YOU are looking for.

First let me mention silk flowers... you can learn how to make a brilliant silk rose here... click for free sample page. Looks very authentic.

Remember, some members of the Roseaceae family are edible too. Blackberries for one, and the hips can be used for their valuable vitamin C content.

From wild, to hybrid tea, floribunda, moss and old fashioned, to newly created varieties in most of these types... there is so much choice that it is hard to know which to choose for your own particular garden/growing situation... and all of this without any mention of ramblers, climbers and the gloriously scented hedging varieties!

I cannot do this subject in any justice in such a short format. So I'm just going to point you in the direction of some of the best rose information sources on the internet.

My own particular favorites are the old fashioned ones because of the truly unbeatable scent. A rose without scent, even a delicate scent as in the wild varieties, to me just isn't a rose.

One further mention, if you are just looking for help in eradicating disease or you want advice on pruning hybrid tea roses... I can sum that up very quickly!

Disease... cleanliness is the best cure. Remove diseased leaves and get rid of, burn if possible - don't put them on the compost heap. Pests... find a supplier of beneficial insects and get them in. Otherwise wash them off with diluted washing-up liquid.

Pruning... don't stress on the subject. Research has proved that just loping the bushes anyhow works just as well as fussy pruning. Pruning is done for the health of the bush. So remove dead, diseased, and crossing stems; open out the centre of the bush. Remove dead flowers... I always prune the bush well down when taking off the flowering stem, and always to an outward facing bud.

Why pruning to a bud is good when the plant is in full growth... it helps prevent die-back.
