Indoor or outdoor, made from anything from wood to metal, ceramics to plastic, earthenware to cardboard.

I was thinking of anything from seed trays to half barrels, and bigger, holding mature small trees.

Somewhere along the way I found the most beautiful flower vases, got sidetracked, so we now have a webpage on ' Flower Vases ' too, for all your flowers which arrive as a bouquet, rather than a pre-arranged flower arrangement from the florist. Many of the vases look so good they don't even need the flowers!

Incidentally, are you one of those gardeners who cannot decide whether clay or plastic flower pots are preferable?

I have used clay (tree pots), plastic and glazed pots for my indoor plants... and in most cases I think the most important thing is not the pot... but the watering.

All indoor plants thrive better if under, rather than over watered. Though some, like ferns, benefit from frequent misting. I always try to water from the bottom, that way the soil will not lose its air content.

One exception to the "any type of pot will do" rule... is the Streptocarpus, I find that, for some reason, mine just hate clay pots, and will only thrive in plastic ones.

For outdoor plants, obviously natural rainwater is best... and my plants seem to manage to thrive in any type of container. In this case it is just a matter of using the correct potting compost for the type of plant.

If you are buying flower pots for outdoors... please, if you live in an area which is subject to frost, make sure that your pots are frost resistant. A good idea, too, is to wrap the flower pots in newspaper and bubblewrap during the winter months... this will help keep the roots warmer, after all in a pot they haven't got as much soil around them to protect them from the cold.

For the UK I have links to two extremely respected suppliers... Crocus, up-to-date always, with beautiful clear graphics, links to 'Charlie' and 'Alan'... a real award winning destination!

The next link is to Eden 4 Flowers... this is a florist I trust implicitly, very reliable. You have to click the link to Vases where you will find, guess what? Vases. But the metallic flower bucket would look lovely with summer bedding plants in it!

If there is a particular item which you covet, and they state that they will only ship to the UK, why not strike up a personal dialogue with the seller? They could well agree to ship Internationally as a favour for a 'friend'!
