Houseplants make a lovely gift... I often find it is best to re-pot the plant as soon as you get it home if you tend to buy from supermarkets. Some of the plants are in too little soil, their roots are badly intertwined, they have no food, no air, and are either under or over watered. Re-pot in the correct soil for the plant, in a slightly larger pot... do it very quickly so as not to upset the plant too much, and they will reward you. I know we have saved many [in fact too many] sad Azaleas in this way. I just can't resist saving them though!
